TL;DR. App Radar (owned by SplitMetrics) has no permanent free plan — every tier starts with a 7-day trial, then Essentials at €69/month for 2 apps, 500 keywords, and 25 competitors. Appfigures does have a free-forever “Starter” plan, confirmed directly on its pricing page on 30 August 2026, and its cheapest paid tier, Connect, is $9.99/month for 25 keywords across 5 apps. Past the entry point the two tools price very differently: App Radar scales on apps and tracked competitors, Appfigures scales mainly on keyword volume and “Premium Competitor” slots, a narrower resource than App Radar’s plain competitor count. Both cover the App Store and Google Play at every tier.

App Radar and Appfigures both show up when developers search for App Store analytics tools with real, published pricing — unlike Sensor Tower’s quote-only model. But they price on different axes, so the sticker price alone doesn’t tell you which is cheaper for your actual usage. We checked appradar.com/pricing and appfigures.com/pricing directly on 30 August 2026.

Does either tool have a genuinely free plan?

Appfigures does; App Radar doesn’t. Appfigures’ pricing page opens with “Use Appfigures for free with our Starter plan,” and its FAQ confirms that when a free trial expires, the account is “moved to the free plan automatically” rather than requiring payment. App Radar’s three tiers — Essentials, Growth, Scale — each show only a 7-day free trial as the entry point; there’s no free-forever tier once that trial ends.

We couldn’t confirm the exact keyword or app limits of Appfigures’ free Starter plan from the pricing page’s published content, so we’ve left those numbers out rather than guess — the page states the plan exists and covers basic download and revenue tracking, but doesn’t list a keyword or app cap for it the way it does for the five paid tiers.

App Radar and Appfigures aren’t priced in the same currency, and they don’t price on the same axis. App Radar’s entry tier caps you at 2 apps but gives 500 keywords and 25 tracked competitors from day one. Appfigures’ entry tier, Connect, has no app-count wall to speak of (5 apps included, then $1.99 each) but only 25 keywords and zero “Premium Competitor” slots — a separate, more limited resource from a plain tracked-competitor count. Appfigures’ equivalent to App Radar’s 500-keyword Essentials tier is Optimize at $149.99/month, more than double App Radar’s €69.

What does “competitor tracking” actually mean on each tool?

This is the detail that trips people up when comparing the two on price alone. App Radar’s “competitors” figure (25 at Essentials, up to 250 at Scale) is a count of competitor apps you can add and track keyword rankings, creatives, and reviews for, distributed however you like across your own apps. Appfigures’ “Premium Competitors” is a narrower feature — deeper competitor keyword tracking and real-time analysis unlocked per slot, starting at zero on Connect and Monitor, one slot at Optimize ($149.99/month), and only reaching “unlimited” at the top Amplify tier ($1,399.99/month). If competitor visibility is the actual job, App Radar’s Essentials tier gives you 25 tracked competitors for €69/month; getting any competitor keyword tracking at all on Appfigures means paying at least $149.99/month.

Does either cover Android as well as iOS?

Yes, both do, at every tier. App Radar’s own site states it covers Google Play and App Store rules directly in its store-listing recommendations feature, and Appfigures lists both platforms across all five paid tiers plus the free Starter plan. Neither is the deciding factor here — that comes down to whether your budget is app-count-constrained or keyword-and-competitor-constrained.

Which one should a solo developer pick?

If you’re tracking one app and want to start at zero cost with no trial clock, Appfigures’ free Starter plan is the only genuinely free option between the two — App Radar requires a credit card commitment (or at least a trial signup) to see the product past 7 days. But if you need real competitor-keyword visibility from the start, App Radar’s Essentials tier (€69/month, 25 competitors) gets you there for less than Appfigures’ Optimize tier ($149.99/month, 1 Premium Competitor), which is the cheapest Appfigures tier that unlocks any competitor keyword tracking at all.

Which one should a growing studio pick?

If you’re managing more than 2-5 apps and want the app count to scale without hitting per-app add-on fees, App Radar’s tiers are built around exactly that: Growth covers 10 apps for €169/month, Scale covers 15 for €299/month. Appfigures caps every paid tier at 5 apps before charging $1.99 per additional app, regardless of which tier you’re on — so a 15-app portfolio costs more on Appfigures’ add-on pricing than it does on App Radar’s Scale tier, even before comparing keyword limits.

If deep keyword volume matters more than app count — say, one flagship app with a long tail of localized keyword variants — Appfigures’ Amplify tier gives 2,500 keywords for $1,399.99/month against App Radar Scale’s 3,000 keywords for €299/month. On keyword volume alone, App Radar’s top tier is both cheaper and higher-limit; Amplify’s price is buying unlimited Premium Competitors, Apple Ads Intelligence, and market trend reports on top of the keyword count, not the keyword count itself.

What’s missing from both?

Direct App Store Connect write-back. Neither vendor’s tier descriptions mention pushing a title, subtitle, keyword field, or description change live to App Store Connect or Google Play Console — both are tracking and analytics layers, and you make the actual metadata change yourself. That’s the same gap we found comparing AppRadar and MobileAction and AppFollow and Appfigures.

  • You want research to end in a live App Store Connect update, not a dashboard: neither tool does this today — check a tool built around that workflow, like Marteso

Where Marteso fits, and where it doesn’t

Full disclosure: Marteso is our product, so weigh this like any vendor’s self-description. Marteso connects to App Store Connect, tracks keywords, and generates AI-assisted suggestions for title, subtitle, keywords, and description that you review and apply yourself — verified against marteso.com and marteso.com/docs on 30 August 2026. Pricing is transparent: a free Starter tier (1 app, 50 keywords, 3 competitor apps, daily rank updates) and Pro at €18 per app/month (500 keywords, unlimited competitor apps, AI metadata optimizer). It’s iOS-only, with no Google Play support — the one structural gap against both App Radar and Appfigures if part of your portfolio ships on Android.
